About the pop/r'n'b debate... Whitney was pop in the 80s and early 90s, then did more r'n'b. So she has been a little bit of both during her career...

Bobby Brown says he's gonna whip someone's a** if he can't go to the funeral.

So....has Congressman Peter King of New York whined about the media paying too much attention on the death of Whitney Houston? Has he called her a "crack ho" yet?

In NJ, Chris Christie is lowering the flags at half mast.
New Jersey Governor Chris Christie strongly defends lowering flags for Whitney Houston | 7online.com (http://abclocal.go.com/wabc/story?section=news/politics&id=8546337 - broken link)

I strongly disagree.. Do it for the fallen soldiers.....not a celebrity of any kind!

She is not just a celebrity. She was much bigger than that. He did the right thing by bestowing that honor on her.

NJ did it for ole blue eyes Frank Sinatra, Clarence Clemons, and Count Basie when they died. Whitney was just as big(if not bigger) than all of them, except maybe Frank Sinatra. She was the biggest artist to come out of NJ since Frank Sinatra himself.

Are we going to make a big deal about every crackhead that dies in a city?

It would have been a disgrace NOT to lower the flag for Ms. Houston. As another poster said, it was lowered for other celebrities. So she deserved it as well, definitely.
Slightly off-topic, the funeral. Had I known her, I couldn't have survived that (the funeral) without some medication. I saw some of the funeral footage. It was beautiful, emotional, and a wonderful tribute to a lovely, gifted, unique lady.

i too didn't expect a 4 hr funeral. tyler perry and kevin costner gave good eulogies. perhaps a little too much of the wynann family - as good as they were. and certain performers lapsed into performance to me.

sounds like Whitney was a beautiful person inside and out.

just my opinion
