$2500/year for auto taxes? You must have a lot of new automobiles. We have a 2008 Sequoia and a 2008 Infiniti and we pay $166 and $223 this year.

Same deal on the motorcycle.

For me, the biking days ended when an older gent pulled out right in front of a car that I was following (45mph w/4-5 car length following distance). The old man was so close when he pulled out that he immediately pulled to the side of the road to avoid the accident...he stopped on the side within 20 feet of the road he pulled out of...that's how close it was.

The worse part for me was I was less than 2 weeks away from health insurance at work and had to pay all my medical bills. Since the officer on the scene didn't write anyone any tickets I had no recourse to have medical bills paid.

Is that a monthly payment?

He is talking about taxes, not car payment.

For things to make more sense for us readers out here...why doesn't your wife work?
I really wouldn't need to know that for his choices to make sense to me. If they moved here expecting to live a similar lifestyle as they did at their previous state, why she doesn't work isn't important. I know that when my family moved, part of the plan was for me to be able to continue to be a stay-at-home-mom. If I moved to a place that would make me have to chose between working or staying-at-home to be able to afford necessities, I'd pick the place that I didn't have to work outside the home.

I'm sure they are balancing their pros/cons to staying or heading back.

Actually, moving to SC from Maine made it more possible for me not to work. Although I have had a couple part time jobs to keep me sane....

The truth of the matter is that Charleston IS very expensive in comparison to most areas in the South. Either way, best of luck to you TiGator. May you find peace and happiness in your next home. Glad you got to enjoy our fair city if even for a short while.
