The whole thing is confusing. Some Pig's were sold to BiLo and BiLo closed many Pig's but rebadged some to BiLo. There were still some Pig's about but now it seems they will be gone unless someone takes the individual store private in which case they can continue to use the Piggly Wiggly name or change it.
I am so confused.
Have I got it right?
Piggly Wiggly Carolina Company announced last year it was divesting 29 stores. Twenty-two stores were divested to Bi-Lo. Seven stores were divested to Harris Teeter. Bi-Lo closed one store as it was in close proximity of two other stores, and left them with 21 to operate. One of these stores will be replacing a Bi-Lo.
All remaining Piggly Wiggly Carolina Company owned and operated stores are up for sale. Any independently owned and operated store will fend for itself.
So is this why the Seaside Farms Pig was turned into a Harris Teeter?
Yes.

The Jedbug distribution center was sold by Piggly Wiggly Carolina Company in 2010, and leased it from the succeeding owner. Both Jedbug and North Charleston distribution centers closed last year.
I could assume they will remain vacant for the time being. I do not know if other competitors Kroger/Harris Teeter and Publix would express interest as they are adding stores along South Carolina's coastal markets.

My parents were down in Hilton Head this past week and asked me for my Kroger Advantage Card # lol...I didn't realize Kroger had opened their own stores down there now...I assumed they'd keep everything under the Harris Teeter name in the Southeast...anyway, it was nice to get an extra $0.10/gallon off my gas this weekend because most Kroger stores have fueling stations and give you $0.10/gallon off for every $100 spent using your card.

The Mr. K store is independently owned and operated, and is not affected by Piggly Wiggly Carolina Company's closure. Only the stores owned and operated by Piggly Wiggly Carolina Company are affected.

I understand that, but still no indication whatsoever that any changes will be taking place.
(As said previously, there's nothing better than something called a Pig Card in your wallet. Please don't tell me I'll have to cut it up.)
