Wow. You all are awesome! But thats what I've esperience while here... Very nice people.

over the past two days we've driven all over this area... From north charleston () to downtown, mr. pleasant, Daniel island, Sullivan island, and island of palms.

Soooo many neighborhoods and nice houses. You know wht I can't figure out - Where does everyone work? Lots of homes between $600k - $1mill but seemingly few companies to support the buyers...

Anyway, our favorite so far is Daniel island. Beautiful. We had brunch at Honey Bees this morning

mt. Pleasant is nice too with a lot of amenities and many various neighborhoods. We had margaritas at Sol

Downtown is great too but we have a 5 year old so schools are important. We had dinner and wine at Coast. Very good.

Isle of palms was very nice but wouldn't want to live there.

We have thought that we may need to rent for a year in order to get a better feel for the area but more than likely will buy something.

Any advice on builders? Any ones in particular that are known as "cheap"?

Be sure to sample the rush hour traffic if you're working the typical 8-5 M-F schedule. It's not horrific most days but can be frustrating for those not used to big city type of traffic.

thank you for that. We asked several people and they all said it was fairly tame.

We've lived in the San Francisco by area so have experienced epic traffic.

Our current commute is about 45-60 mins each way during rush hour. From what i've heard, Charleston traffic doesnt get as bad as that...

There's traffic. It depends on where you are going from and to and what time you commute. Anyone commuting daily across the Don Holt Bridge in rush hour and telling you traffic is 'fairly tame' is disingenuous. I agree with Baconisgood, do the commute and know what you're getting yourself into.

Another thing, there are usually no alternate routes here due to all the rivers, creeks, marshes, etc. You can't just jump off the 101 and take Bayshore. If you want to go an alternate route you could be going round a spell.

thanks. We did notice a lot of potential bottlnecks - especially the bridges. And we noticed many of the newer neighborhoods in MT. Pleasant are huge and usually have but one way in/out. I'm imagining that in the mornings...
