Ho..not from the area, but looking for a private event room for about 50 people. Looking forthe venue to cater heavy hor d'oeuvres and provide a bar. Ideally, close to Goose Creek, rather than downtown. We definately want the place to be upscale. Any suggestions?

Try looking into some of the hotels around the Coliseum in North Charleston such as Marriott or Embassy. That's not a terrible drive from Goose Creek. You could either have them cater it in-house or you could call Hamby's which is awesome! They usually do our company parties. There's no shortage of catering options outside of them though. Otherwise I can't think of anywhere upscale other than in Downtown Charleston. If upscale is what I want, that's where I'd go. The Mills House, Rutledge Room, Midtown, etc. Well worth the drive/cost of shuttle bus to me.

Also, just thought of this..Spiritline Cruises runs private charter events with the whole nine yards. Worth a peak!

Actually, I just remembered a good friend of mine that is a wedding planner in Charleston, and she also does private events.

I'm not in the area either, but she used to be my neighbor before her family moved there. She's really good.
