Look at in-town areas for the feel of the old south. Neighborhoods would include Tea Farm, Country Club Estates, President's Circle. Good luck in your search. Living in-town is great and has an atmosphere that no new development can match. Sure, there are advantages and disadvantages to any type of neighborhood but if you aren't a fan of tract housing, I encourage you to look in-town.
