Hi Cali transplant to Greenville here. When we lived in Burbank our local TJ's was about 5 minutes away and we were there almost 3 days a week. Now the closest one is in Atlanta, which I do get to go to because we go down there for work once a week. I know Cary has one as well but I can't wait for yours to open. What's the latest? Thanks
Sonrise - Hey, I'm from Portland, OR and am also used to TJ's and am moving to Charlotte very soon. I drove by the construction site during the 2nd week of July and it is well on its way. It is part of a new mini shopping center in Pipers Glen neighborhood. It will be the traditional southern all-brick development. New construction is not typical of TJ's in the West but based on the TJ's I visited in Cary, the store is definitely taking on a "southern style". The aisles and the store in general was huge! I'm used to the "western style" stores.......but, a TJ's is still a TJ's! I, personally, plan to live near it because I figure they did the homework on the demographics, etc and if that is where they chose to build their first Charlotte store, it is probably someplace I want to live too.
Update: I live very close to where the Mallard Creek Trader Joe's is being built, and the building is up, and the insulating stuff is on the outside. No windows or walls yet... seems to be going very slowly... or maybe that's just because I so DESPERATELY miss my Trader Joe's that it seems that way?
Any news on the South Charlotte TJ's? I believe that one was due to open in August and since August is tomorrow...
There's a banner outside there saying "now hiring"
