My husband and I are going to be spending some time in Huntersville, NC for his job. We are 24 and 25 and we currently reside in Pennsylvania and will be coming to NC about 2 wks every month. Meaning, I will have to quit my job and spend half of my months down there. I am pretty excited to get out of the town we currently live in bc it is pretty boring but am wondering what there is to do around there when he is at work all day. We are going to be living in the Birkdale Village apartments, above one of the stores. His partner already rents it and is letting us stay there while he stays at his house in Charlotte. I know there is a pool, shopping, the gym, etc. to do but just wondering if anyone lives there now and could give me some info about the apartments and what it is like to live there?! Also how far away is the nearest grocery store and things like that? Thanks everyone!

You're coming to a very nice area Jenn, don't be nervous In addition to nearby things to visit like historical Latta Plantation Park you will be very close to uptown Charlotte for museums - be sure to visit the Levine Museum of the New South - YMCA's, nice restaurants, etc...

Birkdale Village has plenty going on in the center of the roundabout there, but most of it will be in the evening. There is a community pool and yes, there is a movie theater there too. There is plenty of shopping and the grocery stores are close by. You may want to check out a couple of the parks too. Ramsey Creek park is not far and Jetton park has a beautiful walking/bike path all the way around the park, tennis and picnic areas along the lake. Latta Plantation is nice and you could horseback ride around the trails as there is a stable which rents horses. The Huntersville Library is just over the I77 bridge and the closest YMCA is between Cornelius and Davidson about 15 mins away. Once you get here, I am certain you will not be at a loss for things to do.
