If it is your opinion these people are rednecks, that is fine, you are entitled to it. (I disagree with pre-judging people in this manner, I won't argue with your right to do so.)
However that article was nothing but a hit job on Charlotte's people and they cowardly hid behind the wedding as an excuse to get away with it. How many NC Confederate flags are being flown in this city? Sorry but a lot of people do consider the term "redneck" an offensive and racist term and the paper should know better than to take an otherwise happy event and write an article like this. There was no reason for it. Whether there are proud rednecks is irrelevant to the issue.
I have no idea as I don't live there. However the Daily Mail sure seemed to think they would as the article is part of their Sunday paper. I don't think they are in the business of printing articles that nobody reads.
That is their choice how to get married and where to do it. That doesn't justify calling them redneck or putting them down because of it. Like my Mama used to always say...."people bring others down to lift themselves up."
Many people dont seem to know that MANY white people find the term "redneck" as offensive as many black folks find the "N" word offensive. Please dont use these racially derogatory words,,thanks
You are correct, some are offended by the use of the word....
You guys are too funny. Nobody said anything derogatory toward the couple, in the article or on this thread. Btw, the Observer ran the same article, almost word for word, including the picture with the confederate flag.

Like I said because one chooses to hold their ceremony the way they want to doesn't justify being called redneck or given any other title.
Its funny how some racial names are OK and others not.....whatever...
