Get downtown... go walking around.

I was in charlotte for a week and met a bunch of people... had a great time. Went to a basketball game.. went out to eat at center city.

People were very nice... I had a blast.

You could start a new City-Data drinking game with your new forum buddies.
Every time someone corrects your grammer and spelling......Chug! Chug! Chug!

We've made friends with similar interests through volunteering, meetup.com, and church.

Yes, we've found Charlotte to to be "clickish" - we click with others and go do things. I have not found it to be cliquish, though.

And to answer the OP, I think volunteering is a great way to meet people.

Since you're on the subject -- the correct spelling is grammar, LOL! Chug-a-lug!

To answer the OP: One good way to find friends you will click with, is to watch and see which people correct others' spelling and grammar, and then stay away from those people if it comes off as being abrasive.

Go into the Epi Center and yell out "EVERYBODY PUT YOUR HATS ON BACKWARDS".

you'll have a dozen "friends" in a minute.
