Hi , we are a family of four, two boys 6 & 8. Any comments on the school system, good, bad or otherwise? I hear this is a great area..we have a boat and like the fact it is by Lake Norman. How is traffic to nearest down town area and to golf courses...I work as a F & B manager at a golf course now and would like to stay in the business. Any info would be appreciated from those who know!! Thank you

Discovery Place is expanding into Huntersville there is an aquatic centers that olympic divers have trianed at Various Karate training, and North Cross lanes a good place to play video games or go bowling.

Huntersville is a bedroom community of Charlotte was a small country hamlet that is now a city so it downtown is lacking anything to be desired for now. It not like a place you will go often unless you make mistake and live on the east side of I 77.

Golf courses in the city are Birkdale Country Club,(real small(
Northstone Country Club, Skybrook Country Club, and Highland Creek.

Golf Courses:
In addition to the above-listed clubs from SunnyKayak, I would also add the Penninsula Club to that (I know someone in your line of work who worked in F&B management there before moving and he was doing VERY well). Fairly prestigious club.
- Verdict Ridge in Lake Norman in the town of Denver (7 miles from Huntersville) just opened their new bistro after extensive reconstruction of the entire place.
- River Run Country Club in Davidson is pretty good, smaller than Birkdale IMO, but still nice. This is adjacent to the town of Huntersville.
- Finally, The Pointe in Mooresville is a fantastic club with an absolutely great chef and facility. That would be about 10-15 miles depending on where you settle, but it is a great place.

Traffic:
You asked about traffic to downtown and the golf courses. To golf courses, since the ones we listed are in the Huntersville area, you will be ok for commutes. If your spouse commutes to uptown, it is a frustrating commute at times (avg 30-45 minutes depending on traffic and from where you enter the interstate). However, we have great park and ride for the buses all over Charlotte, and there are 2 in Huntersville.

Schools are fine. A bit crowded but fine. You really just need to get involved and stay involved with the schools, as all parents should, and your kids will do just fine.

Best of luck.

Unless you have an "in", I'd find employment first and NC is a large state and there are more areas than Charlotte Metro. Food and beverage is a hard field to get into unless you know someone in the business.

Yes there are other places in NC other than Charlotte but obviously she is on this board because she wants to be in the metro. And F&B is not that hard of a field to get into in Charlotte. You act like it is a coveted spot as chief resident at a trauma center that she is after. Even if she can't get on with a golf course at this very moment there are a ton of nice restaurants who need experienced people for front of house management.

Huntersville is a nice place to live. You should be able to find some kind of work in your field. Hopefully the lake will still have water in it when you arrive

We just have not had any true rain over the summer and its about 5'-6' below normal levels for this time of year. A good tropical system to come along and we should be back on par. You can always sit in your boat and pour bottle water on your head
