They are building some new apartments in Afton Ridge which is a shopping center a few minutes from Afton Village. I don't know what the prices are or will be when you get here but here is a link to them. Afton Ridge Apartments | Concord NC | Welcome to the Good Life

In Afton Ridge there is a lot of shopping and eating options as well. Afton Ridge | Shopping and Dining in Concord, NC | Kannapolis Shopping Center

The commute would be fine since you could take George Lyles to Weddington Road and be at work. If the highway is moving and depending on the time you can take that route as well. You would be at exit 54 and going to exit 49 off I-85.

Thank you to everyone who has responded so far! The information you have provided is greatly appreciated! I do have a question regarding taxes; what is the North Carolina State Income Tax? Are groceries taxed in NC? How do the tax rates compare to South Carolina, (I ask this because Charlotte borders both states). Any information or links would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Individual Income Tax

Both states have state income taxes. SC is lower if you both live and work in SC. It's slightly lower if you live in SC but work in NC than if you lived and worked in NC Check out the link above for more details.
