Hey All, so I've lived in San Diego since I was 5 years old so basically all my life. I'm married with kids and recently my husband and I have been thinking of moving to Charlotte NC. Why? Houses are cheaper and I kinda wanted to live some where different. I figured life is short, why not. I'm 29 and i enjoy going out for a few drinks and on occasion go out to night clubs to get my dance on. I LOVE to eat, i know I won't have any good Mexican Food but i can live with that..Whats your opinion?

I will swap houses and cities with you . Seriously though, if you feel you need a change then go for it. Housing is much less here, Mexican food is lacking compared to SD but there are a lot of good restaurants. Especially inner city area, we have real sweet tea here and soul food is a plus. Best of luck.

Some of my best meals have come from Socal, the diversity is so amazing, you kinda take it for granted. Your not going to find that here. Life is slow in charlotte in general, make sure you research. I had some friends move here from miami and moved back after a year, they said they were bored and the food sucked. I personally love it but im in my 40s with small kids, i wanted a slow life for them and less stress for my family. I do think the great food places here are not as abundant as other cities and that probably has to do with the cultural isolation. Ohh and we dont have easily available medical marijuana...wha wha!!!!Take note and do your homework. Good luck.

Charlotte's food scene is improving every year and will continue to do so as the city grows. There is plenty to do as far as nightlife and outdoor activities. I'm sure mexican food here doesn't compare to SD, but SD's BBQ and soul food will never compare to NC either.

Recently moved to Charlotte from NY.
I'm not a foodie but I really MISS good food. Greek, chinese, mexican, thai....I'll take anything at this point.

It's a crap shoot -you will either absolutely love it or totally despise it. Coming from San Diego, I'd be willing to bet the latter.

I agree with West Coast Babe.
People either LOVE Charlotte or leave it asap.

I know hundreds of transplants. I have never heard any of them say they want to leave ASAP.

Face it - if you are looking for a chic, cosmopolitan vibe that compares to San Diego, sorry to disappoint.
