We are moving to Charlotte this summer and currently looking at houses and neighborhoods. We want either Weddington, Marvin Ridge, or Cuthbertson HS and we would like a home with at least an acre of privacy. Our price range is up to $650,000.
I am finding some wonderful, older neighborhoods that look great in regards to the lot and privacy (even if we have to renovate), but I am an avid runner and am use to running out my front door. Can you do that anywhere here?? If I have to drive somewhere to do my long runs, that is fine, but I'd like to be able to run 5-6 miles around neighborhood and close vicinity. Any ideas? Should I be looking in other areas/schools?

Thank you for any suggestions.
Welcome Casaminc! Tampa is my hometown! You will love Union County, it offers everything you are used to unless you live in South Tampa on Bayshore Blvd...we don't have the coastal views
You will have plenty neighborhoods to choose from that will offer enough streets within the community and some offer trails within the community to run. The roads outside the communities are on the smaller side, busy and without sidewalks. There are several parks and Charlotte offers gorgeous greenways if you prefer to drive and park.
All three schools you mentioned are excellent. Weddington HS-check Weddington Chase Homes Cuthbertson HS- check Weddington Trace or Champion Forest Homes Marvin HS- check Marvin Creek or Providence Downs Homes. Happy move!

I'd look at Baxter Village Fort Mill. Very walkable with sidewalks. Town center with restaurants, shops within walking distance. Lots of runners and miles of wooded trails within neighborhood.
2,100 acre Ann Springs Greenway is minutes away. Lots of trails here too.
Yards in Baxter are much smaller than Waxhaw area. But, close to 77 and easy drive to airport, uptown. Springfield in Fort Mill is lovely too- golf course, some larger lots and more expensive homes.
I would second Baxter Village... You can get a really nice house there and be part of a great community. I know there is at least one neighborhood run club that includes dogs too! I believe they meet at the neighborhood wine shop weekly.
thanks for the replies and suggestions. Although Baxter looks really nice, those homes are just too close together for my taste. We really want a larger lot and privacy....trees...I guess I may be buying a treadmill!
