Shouldn't the mayor be more visible during this troubling time? Aside from a few tweets & an interview on PBS last night where she seemed totally out of touch with the reality on the ground here she has mostly been MIA. Perhaps she is busy on really important matters like forcing everyone to adhere to her bathroom policies.

She appears to be making good on her campaign pledge to completely destroy Charlotte during her first term.

I do think McCrory will come out looking stronger in the election after this, since he had the authority to deploy the Guard. (And served several terms as mayor, plus his Duke connections.) Fence sitters will figure he has more at stake to protect the city.

So many inaccuracies with this statement.

1) Chief Putney has stated the video is part of a criminal investigation and he can't/won't release until the investigation is complete. It's called keeping the integrity of the investigation.

2) The Mayor and many community leaders are planning to view the tape today. I am sure we will know more after this takes place.

3) The bill doesn't go into effect until October 1st

4) When the bill does go into effect, it doesn't say video can't be viewed.

5) Retarted is not a word. if you are going to insult people and use an offensive and hurtful word at least use the correct word.

After last night I would love to see Mayor Roberts approval rating! Personally the situation wasn't at all handled properly with organization being a major problem and communication between law enforcement agencies being another this situation could have been easily dealt with but wasn't all because of failed leadership!

Don't have a dog in the fight, but listened to her interview on MSNBC last night. Neither compelling nor impressive. Got no sense of leadership or really any ownership in her own city. Does not bode well.

You need to read the bill. The bill gives the authority to the agency who has ownership of it, the option to keep it close hold for a multitude of reasons, or release it.

Chief Putney will be showing the video to those who need to see it (The family) later on today.

Seems to me like our weak mayor and weak police chief are responsible for the 'peaceful protests' getting out of control.

Very sad.
