Ignorant... Well you've watched lemmings run off a cliff & die haven't you? Its called mob mentality. For some people its easier to follow the lead of others than to make decisions for themselves. There wouldn't be any price gouging or shortages if the media hadn't pushed the issue into everyones' faces.

I didn't hear much about any gas problems on the news until yesterady afternoon around 5p. I did get a few dozen phone calls saying gas went up.....usually each call was over a 2 cent increase.

It really makes me laugh that so many people freak out and buy overpriced gas as if there will be no more and they couldn't live without their car for a single day.

well, as i've noticed in the carolinas----the communities are not walkable at all and it is very much a car place.......people need a way to get to all the sprawl........I really really wish people would take action to reduce it.

DH got gas only because he would have had enough to get to work but possibly run out coming home. Thank goodness he thought ahead and got it yesterday morning to beat the mob lines. I was thinking as I was watching the news with my sick child at home yesterday, wouldn't these same people need gas in about a week and wouldn't the prices be just as high, if they were to go up???? So why wait in line when you are going to have to pay it anyway, or just not go to work???? Think logically, it may just save you a few dollars now, but look at the longggg wait and you will have to pay it anyway.

The same thing happened about 6 months ago when all of the truckers in the U.S. were going on strike to protest the price of diesel fuel. People were stocking up as if we were going to have a nuclear war that they were stocking their bomb shelters. I filled up yesterday just because the line wasn't really long. Otherwise, I would have written it off as hype.

I did write it off as hype when I filled up yesterday morning. But when I went out later in the afternoon everyone seemed to be freaking out. I think, this time, was actually worse than Katrina.

Seriously, Do you really think the politicians are loving this? In an election year? I got gas... it was 4.19. Unfortunately for me, I get gas every Friday. Has nothing to do with panic, just out. Common Sense... when you are out, fill it up.

Common sense seems to be in short supply with some folks these days.
