My question is: Are there any buildings in Uptown that will allow public access on the upper floors? I've lived in Clt. for 10+ years and have always wanted to see the view from the top of BofA or Wachovia buildings.
I've been on one of the upper levels of the Hearst Tower, but I was there seeing a client. I've often wondered why none of the towers has an observation deck.
I doubt there will be any observation decks place in bank buildings in after 9/11 world.
About the best you could do is get a room at the Westin and yes the higher the room the more they charge.
I went to a pool party in the Pink Building and the view was awesome from that location
I'm on the 24th floor and love the views. I take all my family and friends up for a visit. There are no buildings that will allow you to view uptown from their windows.
When the 1994 Final Four was held in Charlotte, the BofA tower was still under construction. They opened a temporary bar on one of the unfinished, higher floors (I believe they cleverly called it "The Bank Shot").
That's pretty disappointing that there is no public access to the upper floors of the buildings uptown. It wouldn't have to be outside access like the Empire State Building, but something would be nice. We have such a nice skyline that is apparently only enjoyed by the fat cats of the Charlotte banking industry.

It might not be there now, but one of the hotels used to have a pool on the roof.
My girlfriend and I would sneak up there and go swimming late at night and enjoy the view.
This was late 80s BTW.
When we went to a Panthers game this fall, we had a fabulous view of uptown. I guess it depends on which side of the stadium, but it's another option. (fun football game a nice bonus!) Also, the fact that our seats were a few rows from the top gave a little height to the view.
Dude, this one time in uptown I had my greatful dead music going and I was just cruising around, smoke coming out of all my windows, just checking out all those poor working bastards working at the banks.....that was the highest I have been in uptown.
