Until recently, a good number of schools in S.C. didn't even schedule Memorial Day as a holiday because it was usually the same week as the last week of the school year.
i think people are more upset that it's taking away from a 3-day weekend as oppose to taking away the actual rememberance and celebration of memorial day which is to commemorate the men and women who lost their lives in service to our country. just a little perspective. just saying
seriously i dont give a crap!memorial day isnt an outrage!i dont know what your talking about but its pretty crazy for you to have said that.no affense
You do not have to accept the answer that was given. The way I interpreted what he said was "this is the way it is, so accept it So There" If there is enough outrage IMO and get the media involve maybe change can happen before it to late in the calendar year
I've already did my part and informed the media and I bet you the backlash will be harsh.
Idiots who make these decisions.......plain and simple....
The really sad part is....how many days do they waste anyway? My kids used to come home and talk about "movie" day...they don't do anything the week leading up to Christmas break...and they don't do anything after the EOG's are in the books. Its all a big joke anyway. 180 days my booty. Maybe they get in 150....MAYBE. So what is one day?
Lets face it...the public school system is a joke anyway, only fitting that the ones running it be jokers.
I have received one lame response from a school board member (my middle school student could have done a better job at a reply) and one well thought out response. The latter indicated discontent at the situation but that Dr. Davis and his staff were unwilling to consider a change at this late date in the school year. The board member also confirmed that Memorial Day is not scheduled to be a make-up day on next year's calendar.
