Hi all, I'm about to graduate from CPCC this December and I want to get out of Charlotte/Mecklenburg as soon as possible, as the demographics and attitudes/laws now make me feel like an alien in the town I've lived in for 20+ years. Too much immigration from more restrictive blue states if you ask me, but I digress. I'm looking to move out toward Indian Trail/Union county to get out of Mecklenburg's high taxation and just general blue movement and all around anti-firearms attitude. Now, as I'm a relatively poor college student, I won't be looking for a house, but an apartment. Unfortunately all I've been able to turn up is this place called The Meridian, and without going into too much detail the opinons and ratings of the place are night and day. One guy says it's new and nice and etc, another says they let anyone move in (undesirables, dealers, all around d-bags I guess). So I guess my question is this - Where can a guy get away from the city without having to buy a house that's WAYYYYY out there in "cup your hand to your ear and you'll hear a banjo" land? I'm not against a rental house, as long as it's not insane rent fees. Any help will be appreciated!

I'll put my banjo down for a sec to see if I can help you out just a bit
Houses rent for about as much as an apartments these days. There are few, if any, apartments in Indian Trail. There's some condos near Stallings that might have a unit available as a rental. Matthews is probably the closest if you want a true apartment.

Good luck in your search, I hope you fine that nice clean place you are looking for...btw, you might want check out Hidden Valley, lots of great spots over there with really reasonable prices, that I think might work out nicely for you.

Matt, My husband and I wanted to move the Indian Trial since close friends live there. We also heard the same about Meridian. We looked at Windsor Landing in Matthews. The place was really nice and the prices were great. Good luck.

There IS one apartment complex in Indian Trail.
It is very affordable and the apartments themselves are fairly new and nice.

Check them out:
