I would like to take a poll to see if the people here in the Charlotte area support the smoking ban or not. In my poll I would like you to answer a few questions.
1) do you support it?
2) are you a smoker or non smoker?
3) are you a transplant or native and from where?

Let me start off by saying...I am NOT against smoking...just having smoke all around me...especially at a restaurant.
1) Definately
2) Non-smoker
3) Native...and my dad retired after 38 years in Research & Development from RJ Reynolds in Winston-Salem...so cigarettes fed me, clothed me, put my brother & I thru private schools & college...and everytime someone lights up (an RJ Reynolds brand) it puts money into my inheritance...but just go outside PLEASE.

I don't see why the government should have the right to tell private business owners what to do with their businesses tho! It should be their decision imo.

Right. People will vote with their feet - by walking out the door. The business owner can then decide whether he wants to allow smoking or not based on his bottom line. No need for an even bigger nanny state
We just went through a smoking ban law in private clubs last year. The argument for it was that servers and staff deserve to have a clean environment. Some said they could just get a job elsewhere. The ban passed and most servers were quite happy.
