I actually like Tonys Pizza if I eat it right away, but if I take it home and reheat it, it just doesnt taste as good. I know it sounds weird but to me it just doesnt hold up if not right out of the oven.
I have found that with every pizza I've gotten down here. That is another difference, the pizza in NY can be reheated the next day and taste great. I tried it with several places down here and it's a no go, for me anyway. If you don't eat the fresh pie here, forgetaboutit.
Edited to add;
I have recently tried Luigi's, as recommended here. It's very good. Very large slices too. However, it's a bit far from us to use regularly.
Today I tried "Pizza Palace" in Monroe as recommended here. Eh, what can I say? I would not go out of my way to get there pizza again. However, if I lived closer or was passing by, I could live with it.
I've had better and I've had A LOT worse.
Where will I go tomorrow?
Edit;
I've decided either Tonys in Ballantyne or Giacomos(SP) in north Charlotte.
my family and i had lorenzos pizza today...by far the best pizza down here..i hear they use fresh ingredients also....it sure does taste like it...i will let u know tomorrow how there reheated slices are...
Tired of all the NY paper-thin style pizza, someone point me to a good Chicago deepdish style pizza place (that isn't a chain like Unos)!
Agreed. I'm sick of pizza I can fold up and stick into an envelope if I wanted too. Altho I prefer something inbetween NY and Chicago style crusts, I'd like to try at least one pizza place that wasn't trying to be NY style.
Then I'm hitting Tonys today. One slice to eat and one for my reheating experiment
Giacomos would have been a waste of your time.
