I haven't been able to find somewhere that is "just like NY". I like to judge Chinese places by the Chow Mein. If it isn't think and gooey like I remember NY Chow Meain to be, I move on.

That being said, I have "settled" with the Amazing Wok on Johnston Rd. in the Lowes Food Shopping Plaze. It's decent.

Amazing Wok

Website is kind of lame since they don't have their menu on it. I use it for their phone #.

A new Chinese Restaurant just opened on Old Lancaster Hwy called Bamboo something or other (Near Farleys), I'm hoping Groove will try it soon and give a review

Have you tried Chef Kwo by Blockbuster on the corner of 521 and Ballantyne Pkwy?? I find it better than Amazing Wok for takeout. I think it's more of the traditional Chinese "Takeout"

I have and had a bad experience there. My wife is a vegetarian, and likes them to fix normal meat type dishes i.e Curry chicken with Tofu rather than beef. They upcharged like $5.00 over the cost of the dish for the substitution. I was dumbfounded and very disappointed.

That's funny....my wife's a vegetarian too!!! They didn't upcharge us for tofu. Do you find it difficult to find places with veggie options here?? Even chinese food, a lot of places do not have tofu. China Bistro though, has some decent veggie options. It's not much of a takeout place though.
