Tommorow night is the vote. How does everyone think it will go and are you happy with what has been proposed?

Berry and Cball are right. The public hearing/forum is at Marvin Ridge High School tomorrow @ 6:30. The vote is at the school board meeting next week at the County school's development building @ 7:00.

Union County Public Schools is in the process of redistricting part of the Marvin Ridge cluster into a new attendance cluster. A new campus (Middle School/High School "C") is being built on Cuthbertson Road. The campus is scheduled to open in time for the 2009-2010 school year.

The reason for this additional class space is, of course, population growth. For people researching schools in this area it may be helpful to know that this area has grown quite fast. The two schools, Marvin Ridge and M.S. "C" are about 5 miles apart but the high population density requires additional classroom space. The current school year is the first for Marvin Ridge Middle with a full complement of students and Marvin Ridge H.S. does not have a senior class yet as they were allowed to stay at Weddington.

The meeting tomorrow night at Marvin Ridge H.S. (corner of Crane and Waxhaw-Marvin Roads) will allow people to comment on the proposed plan.

The school board will vote on the plan next week. They'll meet at the UCPS staff development center on Brewer Drive in Monroe.

The maps for the proposed plan can be viewed here:

Berryjuice4life posted this list of neighborhoods on another thread which I thought was very informative:
