Please provide any good or bad experiences. I am leaning towards switching to CPI.

Any reason or reasons in particular of why you are looking to switch?

Default well..

I keep hearing the response rates are slow with ADt and now I just found out that KB switched to Guardian but I need to seeif that is true with my house. I never heard of guardian.

I have to say CPI hands down. We had ADT for 3 years in texas and they were very slow to respond... CPI is typically 30-60 seconds. I also love the 2 way communicator they have so you dont have to answer a phone... you just speak in the general vacinity of the voice box which is usually near your stairs. And honestly, their customer service is flat out good... I was surprised, guess that is the upside of a local company.

I didn't like ADT's approach, I have an existing system and when I went to switch it, they claimed they couldn't do so and it would cost $850 to "upgrade"! I'm talking to Brinks tomorrow - anyone how they are to work with?

One other thing to note, you don't have to have a pre-wire these days. CPI offers a wireless system so I would imagine others do too. However, the prewire would help if you wanted an upstairs keypad.

I can't believe adt wanted to charge $850 to upgrade??? You can get a loaded wireless (keypads, keychain remote, motion sensors, smoke detector) for less than $200 (not including new customer discounts). Sounds like a huge rip-off to me.
