My husband is being transferred to Cleveland, TN. We are beginning to look at areas that we will want to focus our home search on. I don't think we will want to live in Cleveland as we want to live closer to Chattanooga/shopping/restaurants, etc. We have visited Chattanooga a couple of times as tourists (and LOVE it!), but never explored the city as potential homeowners. We are currently 5 hours away and want to make the most of our time there when we get to come house hunt in a couple of weeks. Here is what we will be looking for:

2250+ sqft, 4 bedroom brick home, basement (finished or unfinished), 2-3 car attached garage, subdivision with a pool, adequate yard for children to play, nice, friendly neighbors, commute to Cleveland <30 min.

Schools will play a major role in where we decide to buy. We want to live in a zone that has an excellent reputation. One that is safe, has a focus on academics, few discipline problems, and the teachers enjoy working there.

Where would be the best place for us to focus our home search? We are looking to spend $250k or less.

Thanks for your help!

Ooltewah (37363) is a great option. Maybe just a little closer to Cleveland than Chattanooga's Downtown but only 10 - 15 minutes from the Hamilton Place / East Brainerd area where there are several shopping and dining options. The other option would be East Brainerd (37421) but would put you a little further from Cleveland. Also There are lots of new homes in Ooltewah and $250 is a good price point for that area.

I can't comment on directly on the schools. In the link below SPLIT posted some good information in another thread.

at the wall in hopes something will stick with todays troubled youth. . Here are Two ,Outside the Box,
