It should be clear by now that WBBM's signal does not have enough power to cover an acceptable area.

An "indoor dipole anetenna" is a fancy name for this -- http://www.amazon.com/Leviton-Indoor...dp/B00002N5G1/

Something with an amplifier might be a good idea -- Channel Master CM 4050HD CLEARtenna Metro Series HD/Hi-VHF/UHF Indoor Amplified TV Antenna (CM4050HD) from Solid Signal

I just had an extreme fringe antenna installed in my attic, 51 miles from Chicago, hoping to receive CBS but knowing that it would be borderline with an attic install. I got everything else, but unfortunately no CBS. I really don't want to put the antenna on the roof, so for now I am just going to leave it "as is".

What are the chances of CBS moving to UHF at some point in the future? Has there been any indication that may happen or are they going to remain on VHF for the foreseeable future?

They have a duplicate UHF signal now, but IIRC it's pretty low-power so you may not get it 50 miles away unless you have a directional antenna mounted outdoors and aimed at the city. They're also introducing a "nostalgia" sub-channel like Atennna, MeTV, Cozi, etc.; their version is called "Decades."

Right now the main channel is designated as 2-1 for the VHF signal and 2-11 for the UHF signal; Decdes is 2-2 and 2-22. I think the actual frequency for the 2-11 and 2-22 is 26.1 and 26.2.

I got channel 2 just fine with my 24" Samsung TV. Just bought a 32" Insignia and channel 2 is long gone. Same antenna. Weird.

We've found it to be seasonal here in Palatine - that is, we don't get it during the latter part of the year (but another channel I watch frequently comes in crystal clear) but once spring has sprung, I get channel 2 just fine and lose the other channel. I don't know if it's the curvature of the earth, the point in space where our planet is orbiting, or strange, dark magic - but I do know it's a real pain in the you know what.

I tend to lean towards strange, dark magic being the explanation, by the way...

I have a Clearstream Micron-R Indoor Antenna and sometimes I get beautiful reception for CBS and sometimes I don't. When I don't, I use a Chromecast stick to view CBS shows from the computer on my television.
