Job in Cicero .Where to live. best place to look with decent shopping road access
Thinking West or North ,like Oak brook or Norridge. Heard Oak Park and Berwynn weren't so great.

Price range?

Family situation?

Other factors -- space? preferred commute?

I am not sure why you would go up to Norridge. Oak Park is nice. Berwyn could be acceptable, Forest Park, Riverside, Brookfield all might be choices.

When people ask questions like this it always baffles me. Why not look IN Cicero???

"New Job in Downers Grove--where should I live?" Uuummm...Downers Grove, if your budget allows.

Tree moni, I could not agree with you more...although I am not sure I would look into Cicero but would look at surrounding areas. It puzzled me why people have jobs and then they look somewhere really far and sometimes the places they find are not nice. I have a job in Harvey and want to live in W. Chicago.....I have a job in Hyde Park and want to live in Aurora. I guess they have not done the research first or even bothered to look at a map and they don't know the area.

In fairness job in Cicero is very different than job in Downers Grove -- one town has a nice hospital, lots of good paying office jobs in newer towers / office parks, other town has some manufacuring jobs and not much else ...

Folks that ask these questions would be wise to give a little more context as to their wants / needs -- if they are ok with very short commute but other neighbors that likely are not all the keen on charming homes, good schools or upscale dining / shopping then Cicero would be fine. For a place like DG folks would have to have a budget that allows them short commute and single family home that start over $250k and top out at something probably 5x or more of that...

Because all of the people I know there told me stay away from Cicero. That's the whole point of this post.

I need only a 1bedromm apt for me and my wife. I want a short commute preferably by a mall
,so my wife can look for work within walking distance. Oakbrook is about as far west as I'd like.
I considered Norridge because I used to live there. My plan is to get an Extended stay place in Oakbrook
for a month and look around. A lot of people are steering me away from Cicero. Most people are suggesting places that I consider farther than I want to commute like Itasca which I like ,but too far a commute to me.
