Racist. Ever been to North Riverside? Majority white and crime ridden. While Flossmoor and Olympia Fields have some of the lowest crime rates in the Chicago metropolitan area and are majority black.

I hope you hear yourself m8!

I wouldn't want my city to be like Hinsdale! It's too expensive and snooty.

I'd live next to you. you sound like a decent neighbor.

As for me, i live where i feel most comfortable. I personally choose a more caucasian place because like many things, people want to feel where they are more like them culturally. which is why you have Polish neighborhods and Greek neighborhoods, etc. Now, even I dont feel comfortable in every white area, like Winnetka. Too rich for me. Same with living in the Gold Coast part of Chicago,, i never felt like i fit in, but it has to do with the culture, or how people act (too many 20-something beautiful people who are thin and attractive and think about buying clothing and fashion for me (Trixies and Chads though not everyone is a Trixie or Chad, but enough of them in that area to make me feel like I dont belong there and they are white.. i dont fit in therefore i would not choose to live in either of those. I dont feel like i fit into the culture of a black area, like lets say Harvey, i would feel out of place.. but maybe i would hop across to South Holland, across the street. Also i took a trip out south to Monee last week, loved the country feel. So i pick a place where i would feel comfortable in every way that a person would encounter in their neighborhood. its not racist to do so, because I'm not going to try to prove some kind of point by living in a place which i feel very out of place in. I just go where I'm comfortable. I am a renter in Chicago and theres all kinds of people here, but i feel comfortable because everyone is a nice neighbor and either working or retired, and no bummy people here. I would not feel comfortable living in the housing projects.

By the way, if a white family moved into a predominantly black neighborhood, would they be accepted or what would that be like? A place like Harvey or Englewood?

You'd stick out about as much as a black family in any majority white area?

People have posed this question a thousand times and it's easily answered by reversing it around. Also, why Harvey or Englewood? Their poor communities. Why not pick a more affluent majority black neighborhood if you do wish to pose such a question?

It often feels like it's made to seem as if it's non-confrontational for blacks to move into white areas when history has proved that wrong many times over. What proof is documented that whites are pushed out by racist in black neighborhoods for your question to have any validity?

even though I work from home currently and my wife works in tinley park, I told my wife I'd NEVER live in the south suburbs. it's too far out, and there simply are not enough jobs out there. and my days of doing a long commute are long gone.

every job I have had as an adult were in the city, west suburbs or north west suburbs. I worked in the following places as an adult:

downers grove
chicago-old town
chicago-kenwood
chicago loop
des plaines

hell, I have never even gotten a job interview for any business in the south suburbs. and I have applied since I work in health care to various hospitals out that way over the years.
