I don't understand why that question wasn't answered. Nearly everyone who replied asked which hospital, and pointed out that there are no suburbs within a 30 minute commute of Northwestern Memorial. OP responds but doesn't answer the question and just says they will continue to consider suburbs with a 30 minute commute.

I was thinking the same thing. It's almost like he's specifically avoiding mentioning which hospital he's working at. Everyone asked him that question but he didn't answer. Maybe it's a big secret he can't reveal

He pretty clearly states he is working at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. I doubt that was a typo.

If short commute is top priority, there's plenty of condos with a few blocks of the hospital within the price range desired.

It's a nice neighborhood and you'd be on the red line.

There is no way that you can reliably get from Andersonville to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in 30 minutes, likely would be DOUBLE that...

As others have said, factoring traffic and commute options you should plan on living within about no more than 5 miles of the hospital to be 30 minute commute.

That puts city neighborhoods as only option, most of which will be out of your budget!

Not enough money for a SFH, but plenty for a condo.

If the OP wants a "condo that lives like a SFH" they might consider this -- https://www.redfin.com/IL/Chicago/32.../home/14114471 For the money it has many nice features, including a two car garage and private pation, which at this price point are quite the rarity... The HOA fee is very modest and even taxes don't look horrible. Not the most charming exterior and not super close to much green space, but all-in-all a rather good fit for someone that may not want a highrise.

It is in Old Town and it would be MUCH MUCH MUCH more likely to allow a sub-30 commute. Public transit or walking should get you to the Hospital in under 30 minutes and if you are not mired in gridlock it is less than two miles and thus should be an easy drive... I rather like many parts of Old Town, as the relative access to city amenities is top notch and it tends not to attract as many douche bag types...

Thank you.I think we are considering townhouses in old town, lincoln part and maybe the ranch triangle and noble square areas.
I believe this will make for a short commute. How are these places for safety?
