How's rush hour traffic on I-80 between Joliet and Matteson?

Going eastbound in the am and westbound in the pm should pose no problems for you if you don't mind going fairly fast. The bridge over the DesPlaines River can get a little cloggy though. Hitting I57 to get to Matteson is variable, but there's not much to it so it's not a real problem.

Are you crazy. You have to get within 50miles of StLouis, or Chicago to get real traffic. You may rarely get some in Champaign,Bloomington,Peoria,Rockford, and the Quads but hey, if you want to see traffic, move to ATLANTA. ugh.

You should be fine. ReigonAire's post is accurate. You won't get in traffic jams because you won't use a tollroad. Once you cross the bridge in Joliet, get ready to fly!

And by "fly" he means "ignore the speed limits signs that laughably say '55' unless you like getting mowed down and/or run off the road..."

Even scarier, it's posted at 45 mph...which really means "slow down to 70"! By the way, is there some rule in the Illinois driver's manual that mandates slow traffic in the left lane?

The only area that comes close to having traffic jams in Champaign is the north Prospect avenue business corridor. A visitor I had from New Jersey (just across from Manhattan) said "traffic? What traffic? This isn't traffic."
