Hey all, like a lot of people here my family and I are looking to move closer to my job and wanted to get opinions on what you think the trends on some western suburbs are in my price range. My wife and I bought a house on the Far East side of Aurora (Naperville school district 204) and we’re hoping to sell in spring. Currently I work at Loyola medical center so my commute is roughly 23 miles each way which isn’t the worst but not what I look forward to every day.

Anyways we currently have a budget of around 250k and we’re looking into a neighborhood that mostly offered the best investment for the future (having good school districts is always a plus too). Excluding the suburbs of North Riverside and Brookfield, what might be some other towns that would be solid to invest into? Any opinions on Willow Springs?

Any one willing to point me to a few neighborhoods that has a better idea of the western suburbs than I do please please please help!

Villa Park - it's a reasonably easy commute down Roosevelt

Berwyn and Forest Park. Many young families are moving into Berwyn I know, and both are a pretty easy commute for you.

Why would you leave Naperville 204 if you are looking for good schools(?)

23 mile commute for me currently, wife has potential job offers around Oak Park and near west side. Too long daily drive for both of us

Wife has a friend who lives here, one of the towns we’ve looked at a little bit. Don’t really know much about the area tbh

How good of schools are you looking for and what are you looking for in terms of your house?

You may find something in Westmont. For that price in Downers Grove you'd probably get something really small or needs a ton of work, or both.

Someone can correct me, but I think Willow Springs feeds into two school districts. Part goes with the Lyons schools and feeds into Cook County District 204 for high school (west of Canal/Des Plaines River). I think the other part may go with Bridgeview and feeds into Argo for high school. You'd probably want to be careful about that if looking in Willow Springs as the Lyons side is a better district, but in all likelihood doesn't meet the price point.

Willow Springs is a bit isolated from other towns as a majority of it is surrounded by forest preserves and the I&M Canal.

Lombard might also be a decent place to look. Good elementary schools but the high schools aren't comparable to Naperville district 204.
