Hi,

I am planning to stay in Hotel Sax in Chicago and would like to walk around from the hotel to Mag Mile, Parks, Navy Pier, etc.

Is it safe to walk around in that area at night time?

Just in case, the address for Hotel Sax is:
333 N Dearborn St

Or should I stay in Wyndham Chicago which is basically in the middle of Mag Mile?

Thank you!

Pretty much any national chain hotel in Chicago is going to be in a safe area.

You can walk from the Hotel Sax to the Wyndham in about 10 minutes. They're not next door to each other, but they're pretty damn close. This isn't Peoria.

You're fine. The crazy stories that are flooding everything right now are things that are happening, but it's a lot of hysteria as well. Roughly 1,000,000 people go downtown or live there on a daily basis, and ever few days something happens to someone. It's WRONG and shouldn't happen, but it's not statistically really different today than it was a year ago.

Yeah, it is. The flash mobs haven't moved that far south yet.

In all seriousness, I work right near there and have never seen any reason to be alarmed. There is a lot of nightlife surrounding your hotel (House of Blues, Rockit, Vermillion, the Public House, Bin 36 or whatever is in Hotel Sax itself, etc., not to mention all the restaurants and other hotels), so I wouldn't worry about it.

You'll likely feel silly you asked this once you get there and discover how nice the neighborhood is. You're just fine. Have fun!
