Any gang violence, crime, is this a diverse neighborhood?? Please let me know....
Where are you coming from/what is your "big city" experience?

Your kids may be all right on the safety front (they aren't likely to be seen as recruits by the Latin-Imperial-Maniacal-whathaveya's), but schools, not so good, and the role model thing is worth considering.

If I had two boys I'd want to be east of Kedzie for sure, preferably north of Armitage to boot.

I'm at roughly Spaulding & Wellington, btw.

That corner is definitely Humboldt Park, not Logan Square. I am the first to herald the positive changes in HP, and advocate young folks moving here, especially over the last few years. I know a really sweet hipster couple who live right on that corner running a business that does printing and candles using re-used (not recycled) materials.
But I digress.
As much as I am heartened by the progress in the area, I can tell you that that particular stretch of Spaulding is thoroughly infested with gangs and gang conflicts. That intersection is the setting for one of only 2 times I was in real, potential danger of physical harm in the seven years I've lived in this area (I live just 2 blocks south of where you are looking)
If you have kids/teenagers, I do not recommend that intersection. There are better options in Logan north and east of there.
