Not sure what you're trying to say here. Is "loathe" the word you intended to use?

No.

I was at that mall today, and while I have noticed the increased security(ex. several sitting close to the entrance adjacent to the Cheesecake factory), Orland Square is still the premier mall of the southland. As another poster said, Carson closed for it only to be replaced by a high end store in Von Maur. Despite having so much commerce activity, Orland Park itself still has a crime rate below that of Schaumburg and is on par with Naperville. In fact, 2020 it saw overall crime drop to the lowest it has been in 26 years.

The south suburbs have sadly always equated the presence of minorities with the community now being "ghetto". I know that I always look for an upscale department store, Apple Store, Pottery Barn to identify low income, high crime neighborhoods.

Yeah but Orland Park is a far cry from places like Harvey, Posen, Dolton, Robbins or Worth, just to name a few.

Lol, you're talking about the HIP (stands for Harlem and Irving Park). The HIP is on the very south end of Norridge and I would not consider that the a nice part of Norridge. North on Harlem is where a lot of the charm exists.

What about Calumet City? Would you consider that "ghetto"? I'm asking because a South Side friend is convinced it has become that.

Well, it's a poor city that has a half empty mall. Most big box stores have closed. Target, Kohl's, Bed Bath & Beyond among others. The most expensive homes in the city right now top out at $200,000. School statistics are awful. I'm not sure how you define ghetto, but there don't seem to be many reasons to choose to live there.
