Unless there was some poison in the suburban waters and chicago held the trump card with fresh water.... then no.

The idea was floated last year and Oak Park's mayor gave a strong No to the idea. Cicero makes sense with a density above Chicago's average and some CTA stops - schools are just OK and there may be some benefits to consolidating the police/fire/government.

Google doesn't know anything about it. Even if true, my guess is folks who live in those two communities are there because they want proximity to the city without actually living in Chicago. Therefore, it would likely be shot down by the residents. One advantage might be lower property taxes, but eventually, Chicago is going to have to raise theirs to match, as the chickens are coming home to roost with their budget shortfall, CTU issues, pension cost, etc.. I have to wonder about Bedford Park, though. With only about six hundred residents in six square miles (most commercial property), that's an interesting thought experiment. One would have to wonder what Chicago would offer the residents to make such a thing attractive to them? My guess is, "not enough", especially since it would probably become part of West Lawn, which is part of Madigan's district, right?

Edit: I looked at a map, it appears that rolling Bedford Park into Clearing would be the most logical thing. But again, unlikely, there's probably a reason all those businesses located in Bedford Park and not Chicago.

Oak Park and Cicero would give Chicago around 2.83 million. They both border Chicago anyway. And just the suburban outer part of Chicago. Unless they just hate the city or something.
