Am I the only one who is totally unimpressed by this news? It happens every summer. We live in Chicago, not Boulder or Portland.

What's funny is that Jesse, Rev Al, Rev Wright and Fr. Flager will now hold a guns/violence protest at city hall denouncing all the gun violence. They will be followed by a few hundred people from the hood holding signs, wearing RIP t-shirts, etc.
In reality, these people know who are in the gangs, they know who has the guns, but they don't do anything about it.
This cycle of violence/ghetto life will continue to perpetuate itself until the culture is changed, not the laws (the gun laws are already on the books and obviously aren't having much of an impact).

And somehow all of the online commenters (e.g. tribune.com) act like it is a totally new phenomenon and offers proof that the city has gone to complete hell, everyone who has left can, and it has no future. Plus of course that the olypmics bid needs to be rescinded, daley is a fraud, and gun ownership should be legalized.

Good thing Chicago has very strict gun control. It's working really well isn't it?

Yup now the only ones with the guns are the bad guys who can now easily pick on the good guys who now can't defend themselves. Yup, makes sense to me.

Yes, most of the shootings are bad guys shooting good guys who have no means of defending themselves.

Plus of course that the olypmics bid needs to be rescinded= YES

daley is a fraud=YES

gun ownership should be legalized=YES (because gee whiz, if guns were illegal, we'd live in a safer city with less gun violence, few murders ....um, wait a second)
