Cadet Cougar —a younger woman that one day aspires to be an adult Cougar. Also referred to as a 'Cougar Pup'. It could also a woman in her 20's or 30's that date men that are younger than them. (see Puma) Cougar —a woman over 40 who sexually pursues younger men, typically more than eight years her junior. The term appears to have been coined by Canadian website Cougardate.com and has been used in TV series, advertising and film. The 2007 film Cougar Club was dedicated to the subject and in Spring 2009 TV Land aired a reality show called The Cougar. A new show is Cougar Town. Manther —Male version of a cougar. Puma —a woman in her thirties who dates a younger man (i.e. 20-somethings), often considered to be "cougars-in-training". It also means Cougars whose age disparity is less than 8 years.Saber tooth —a woman usually in her fifties dating a man 20+ years her junior, often considered a cougar past her prime.

Why do people get all over the older women who prefer a younger man? Obviously the attraction is mutual so what's wrong with it? Is it any different when an older man prefers a younger woman? For those critics out there consider this. At a certain point in life most people reach a level of maturity where age really doesn't matter. Younger men are often more enjoyable, have less drama and baggage, more energetic and exciting and are more appreciative. Older women offer maturity, less drama, good conversation and a relationship that is not needy like a younger woman. Personal opinion? It's jealousy that brings the critics. If you're both single it's no one elses business what two people choose to do regardless of age difference. So why not focus on your own life rather than worrying about everyone elses? You're probably the same people who criticize same sex relationships. Open mindedness and acceptance are amazing qualities...try them one day. If more people worried about their own business than everyone elses imagine what an amazing world this would be!
