I will be living in Hyde Park and I will be working in Evanston Monday-Friday 8-5 is this a feasible drive or should I reconsider and live in Rogers Park?

What made you choose Hyde Park in the first place? Any attachment there?

Rogers Park is an easy commute...just make sure you have secured parking.

I have some friends there. I don't know anyone on the North side.

Yes it is feasible, but it depends on what your definition of feasible is really. If you want a commute under 30 minutes that will be tough. If you're fine with a 30-45 minute commute it'll work. Commuting North on Lake Shore Drive can be nice. The tough part will be once you get off LSD and head into Evanston, there can be a decent amount of congestion. But I think if you're willing to leave a little earlier than rush hour it really wouldn't be bad at all.

You could also take the #2 express bus and the UP-N Metra Line to Evanston. That will let you get lots of reading done.

Hyde Park to Rogers Park or Evanston is going from one extreme to another, you could move somewhere in the middle to have your cake and eat it, too.
