............what is the difference between rightoussness and self rightoussness,in your own honest opinion.

i would suspect that a rightous person, dosent even know or think that they are rightouss, that they are humble and would never even speak of their own rightoussness, that they would be glowing with life and love and it would be natural to them, where as a self rightous person will always look for the glory and are maybe a little if not a lot arrogant toards those who they think are less rightous.thats what i think,i could be way off here im not too sure.

a rightous person is one who makes you feel bad or are proud to see the
unrighteous to fall and give no signs of love. Those that cannot defend Once self. Jesus come for sinner not a rightous person. Jesus said that siner is more likely inter heaven.

We read in Matt 23:2 The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat.
a righteous person, not just scribes and the Pharisees, but men as will.
Matt 23:3 Therefore whatever they tell you to observe, that observe and do, but do not do according to their works; for they say, and do not do.
Matt 23:4 For they bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.

Dobeable, I think you are correct and you explained it very well.

I guess that makes me righteous because I praised you. However, by bragging about it I suddenly became self-righteous. Then again, I have shown my humility, so that must make me righteous again. Wow, life is tough!

Righteousness, which is right standing with God, is something God designates you as. It is not something you can earn on your own.

A truly righteous person is one who has trusted Jesus Christ for his eternal salvation. For that belief alone, God has said, "I deem you righteous enough to enter my presence." He's still a sinner, still weak, still imperfect, but God choses not to hold him accountable for all that because he trusted Jesus.

A self-righteous person is one who thinks he's earning God's righteousness through his own actions, who thinks that he's good enough to face God with confidence, that he's put aside enough of his sin to stand before the Living God and be found more good than bad. He thinks that will please God.

It won't.

Yes, believing in Jesus is one's own action, but it is not righteousness itself. It leads to God imputing righteousness to you.
