Which is disturbing.

Call it what you will Regeneration, Sanctification, Repentance, "Seeing the Light."
This change must take place in order for us to be saved. This change is an effect of our effort and good works as we have faith in a God who is good.

I do not believe in blood sacrifice,
but if people who do believe in it undergo that change then they are saved.

I don't believe God cares if your Muslim, Mormon, Jew, Jehovah Witness, or Catholic. He doesn't even care if your Pagan or Atheists. What God cares about is Love, the ultimate good work is choosing to be loving.

The righteous shall not perish but the wicked will be gathered up like chaff and thrown into the fire.

After salvation, we begin to see, and hear, and seek after divine things, and to live a life of faith and holiness, having been made new creatures.

2 Cor. 5

17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

And that in the good ground: These are they, who in an upright and good heart, having heard the word, do retain it, and bear fruit in continuance. Luke 8:15
The nature and character of the seed is Love, joy, peace, long suffering, goodness, kindness, faith, self control and gentleness.

But is that true?
so many proclaim to be saved and believe in Jesus as a sacrifice but to no avail they either don't change or get worse.
I've seen this time and again.

Don't go and use the "well they don't actually believe" excuse.
Because you would be wrong to accuse these people of not believing in Jesus.
I knew a person who lost faith in Christianity because She tried to "pray her gay away" eventually she became so depressed after her and her family converted to Christianity that she shot herself.

A person has to willingly change their actions themselves they can't expect God to become a puppeteer and do it for them.

Repenting and doing good is what saves us. We must do so willingly with the intent to change for the better.

No one changes overnight. A baby isn't born full-grown. Sanctification is a life-long process. Bible study, prayer, fellowship, worship, along with the Spirit's prompting all cause a new believer to grow in Christ.

We can't do anything to save ourself-Christ did that. But we can choose to grow spiritually.

You're not in danger of annihilation regardless of what you do. Unfortunately, that's all salvation means to a great many Christians -- avoiding Hell and nothing more.

wherefore having put aside all filthiness and superabundance of evil, in meekness be receiving the engrafted word, that is able to save your souls;
and become ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

Interesting verse of scripture.

An outstanding verse, but it should also read at the end, "and deceiving others."
