Notes on sin and the confession of sin. I believe that there are some who do not believe that Jesus died for our sins.
1 John 3:4 4 Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness.
1 John 1
5 This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; 7 but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. 8 If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us.
Notes:
"Some say the Scriptures to mean that the problem with man is not that he is a sinner, but that he THINKS he is a sinner. They say that as long as he thinks he is a sinner, then he is as he thinks. According to this view, sin is defined as ignorance, rather than as an offense against God and man. The solution, then, is for man to receive better teaching, rather than to obtain forgiveness through the blood of Christ. This view says that the solution is to be found in a classroom for enlightenment, whereas the Bible brings us to the court of law where offenses are dealt with by blood. This perverted view interprets Hebrews 10:2 to mean that man’s problem is that he is conscious of sin. The solution, then, is to erase from his mind all “false” ideas that man is a sinner in need of redemption. Man must stop saying that he is a sinner and begin confessing that he is righteous. In other words, the problem is not the sin itself, but one’s recognition of it. Somehow the recognition creates the reality, and that nothing truly exists in itself, but derives its existence purely by man’s thought process. And, of course, the next logical step in this way of thinking is to say that man creates God in his own image. God only exists if men think He exists, for He derives His very existence from man." "RANSOM. "Redeemed-with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot." [1 Peter 1:19].
"For the LIFE of the flesh is IN the blood." [Leviticus 17:11]. The blood was the vehicle which carried the LIFE, the life was IN the blood. Men have termed it a "bloody religion" because for years preachers talked about the exterior, about the blood which was shed, but they never got to the real truth, which was the LIFE THAT WAS POURED OUT FOR US. It was the LIFE which was IN the blood which abides to this day to bring us into victory. Romans 5:10 says, "we shall be saved BY HIS LIFE." It wasn't the red fluid which dropped to the earth and was absorbed into the dust of the ground which saves us, it is that LIFE which was in that blood, which life was poured out of us, and which is age-abiding and sufficient for our needs in this very day."
The prime example of the manifestation of the love of God is found in Jesus Christ Himself. He did not come to consume or devour us but to give His life for the world. The blood was to be poured out upon the ground as atonement for our souls (Lev. 17:13). In pouring out the blood, it was said that the SOUL was poured out. This is what Jesus did at the Cross, for we read in Isaiah 53:12, "He has poured out His soul unto death." It was done by means of the blood that was poured out upon the ground at the Cross. To pour the blood of any sacrifice upon the ground (including the Sacrifice of Christ) was an act of giving. Christ did this in accordance with the law, which said that the blood was to be used to atone for our souls." God's Kingdom Ministries :: 02/01/2008 - The Laws of Blood and Redemption
Leviticus 17
11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood by reason of the life that makes atonement
atonement=kaphar-cover, make reconciliation, purging, wiping away
Just musing - Sin kills us. Jesus came to give us life. The life is in the blood. He poured out his blood, His life. His life cleanses us, gives us life, and makes us whole.
God bless.

"Scripture explains,"Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another." (1 Jn. 4:10-11) A propitiation is a covering for sin. In case we think that His love and sin covering is only effective for a small group of elect, the first epistle of John 2:2 tells us that "...he is the propitiation for our sins"
This is a great short explanation. I believe, however, that some of our posters may have troubling grasping that there are TWO parts to propitiation.
• PROPITIATION (noun)
Sense 1 Meaning:
The act of placating and overcoming distrust and animosity Classified under:
Nouns denoting acts or actions Synonyms: placation; propitiation; conciliation Hypernyms ("propitiation" is a kind of...): appeasement; calming (the act of appeasing (as by acceding to the demands of))
Sense 2 Meaning:
The act of atoning for sin or wrongdoing (especially appeasing a deity) Classified under:
Nouns denoting acts or actions Synonyms: atonement; expiation; propitiation Hypernyms ("propitiation" is a kind of...): redemption; salvation ((Christianity) the act of delivering from sin or saving from evil) Hyponyms (each of the following is a kind of "propitiation"): amends; reparation (something done or paid in expiation of a wrong)
Jesus performed BOTH of these functions in His act of grace and mercy on the cross. In one sense He overcame OUR distrust and animosity in that those of us who recognize we are sinners also recognize that He gave Himself to God on our behalf.
In the other, biblically classical sense, He atoned for OUR sin, since He had no sin Himself.
The act of placating and overcoming distrust and animosity.. In one sense He overcame OUR distrust and animosity in that those of us who recognize we are sinners also recognize that He gave Himself to God on our behalf.
.
I can see that. Jesus came to reconcile us to the Father. He is not reconciling Himself to us but He is reconciling us to Him. We like sheep have all gone astray as I think that prophet Isaiah said. He us returning us to Himself in that way too, Do you see that Wardendresden? Colossians 1. Thanks for sharing. God bless.
Also forgiveness does more for the one that needs to be forgiven. I mean from a human standpoint, it is good for both parties but when it comes to God and mankind, it is more for us because we are aware of the wrong that we have done. Adam ran away when He realized that he had done wrong and left the Father. He also tried to cover himself up. There is that word "cover" again.
There is a way that seemeth good unto a man, but the end thereof is destruction.
Yes there is, it is what you believe. What i believe works in my life. And as usual you have plenty to say but are never willing to answer questions.
Jesus said haters are murderers and murderers are of their father the devil..... Are these Jesus' words or the words of his Father ?.
