where it was not used in the meaning it is used commonly today at all. "Homophobia"
was the feeling of straight men that they would be perceived as gay. Not that they
had a fear of gays, but that they were afraid of beeing seen as gay when they were not.
And again, even in its misconstrued application today, the word is abused, because
the vast majority of those deemed as "homophobes" are not in truth afraid of homosexuals,
or homosexuality. They simply deplore it. It is more of a loathing and indignation than a fear.
Read The Cross in the Closet, a book by an evangelical Christian who attended Liberty University and sat at the feet of Jerry Falwell, the poster child for homophobiacs. The author hated homosexuals, but when a friend admitted to him she had "come out of the closet" to her parents and they had done the "righteous" thing and kicked her out of their house, he began to question the validity of false religious teaching. He liked her, and she was crying on his shoulder.

So he put his own life on hold and "came out" to family and friends as being a homosexual himself (he is not). In the tradition of Black Like Me, he writes of the change in the way he was viewed by those around him, the shunning, the names he was called by "good Christians" like he had been.

I know you won't want to read it because you would see yourself in his old self, and dread being converted into a "new" person. But that is the very thing you must do--be born again--in order to know Jesus as opposed to knowing religious bigotry.

So many Christian homophobiacs CLAIM they know homosexuals and spend their time "teaching" them about their sin. I call them all liars. No one is won to Christ through condemnation. They are won by teaching "Good News." God is the one who will convict of any sin. He doesn't need your help.

I'd love how to see the amount of gay porn Christians have lying around their homes, and on their computers for "research purposes." If you abhor homosexuality, why waste time obsessing over such a minute number of people? You know you have bigger fish to fry right in your own congregation. Sinners, all of you!!!

Why have gays as friends? the bible says flee from sin. I avoid anything to do with them. It is not my role to judge them or teach them about sin. They know it themselves but choose their lifestyle. If they truly believed it is genetics they would acknowledge it as sinful, remain in the closet and beg for forgiveness, not blatantly flaunt it. But today such lifestyles are called 'alternative lifestyles'. Nothing alternative about it. It's been around since Sodom.

This does not suggest that homosexuality should be an acceptable practice
for Christians. I don't like talking about this subject. I don't even like thinking about it.
Sadly, the subject has come to play a predominant role in this forum. Which is
strange because Islam and Judaism are also "anti-gay".

I'm absolutely sure that homosexuality was hated by Israel's ancient neighbors as well, with the liberals trying to protect them from the abuse of the homophobes and sexists.
Nothing you say here takes away from the fact that every one of these ancient enemies of Israel was wiped out. The Persian empire only lasted about 200 years. By contrast, the Ottoman and Khmer empires lasted well over 600 years. The pattern stands throughout history. You mess with God's people, you get crushed.

There are no "God's people" unless you mean all people.

What is the "good news" exactly in your world? That they can openly be gay and have eternal life?

Your claim is so old testament, and sexist as well. The Bible says nothing at all about relations between women. But then fundies are always holding up specific verses to treat women as inferiors, perhaps saying "kill the homosexual males, but let the homosexual women live," fits right in with their misguided religion.
How does God hating divorce create a justification for homosexuality?

Or unless you are jewish and believe you are the 'Chosen People'. Jesus had a lot to say about their forefather in John 8.

Because gays and their supporters can find absolutely no justification for their self absorbed abhorrent lifestyle which doesn't even lead to procreation. The muslims and jews also condemn them. They know no society accepts them so they force it with laws. They even force anti chirstian gay marriage laws and force everyone to accept it. They have to resort to deflections like divorce, sexism wakka wakka fish paste, but others also sin (which is an admission they are sinning). Most people acknowledge their sin and are not proud of it. Gays are proud of it and shout 'Gay Pride'. How twisted is that?

People don't divorce and claim I was born that way. No one is proud of it. Only gays wear their sin with pride.
