Well said. I think the problem is that some take the Bible is the ultimate authority. The Bible never says "the Bible is the highest authority." The Bible testifies of the God and Christ -- the true highest authority.

Yes, the role of the Bible is quite simple. There seems to be a lot of confusion and even fear revolving around the Bible. This is not time some one like the OP fears being guilty of idioltary for reading the Bible.
