Which given the time and the type of people, roles, and cults around the Rome/Greece area, that could mean alot of things...I'm glad you seem to be somewhat open minded on certain understandings of the antigay bible verses, but regarding what you mentioned before about you "feeling in your heart that it is a sin," imagine for a second that its not God putting that on your heart and more your 'cultured-in' biases and maybe take try walking a mile in their shoes...I don't know if you are married or not, but imagine someone from another religion (or perhaps some different denomination of the same religion) telling you to divorce or breakup with your spouse because they think you are living in sin...If you are anything like me, you'd probably want to punch them in the face...thats probably how most gay people feel. Assuming that homosexuality is in fact a born-in trait, what does your heart tell you about God, ineffect "Forcing" celebacy and lack of desired romantic companionship on such a large portion of our population?

Please note that quote comes from a chapter that also records:

Quote:
Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and shrewd in their own sight!
Isaiah 5:21

Just like the Pharisees that praised their "biblical" wisdom over loving everyone, Jesus rejects those with literal interpretation of verses that refuse to accept people as flawed individuals.

The Pharisee praying and thanking God he was not like that "sinner" over there.

The woman caught in adultery where the Pharisees were correct about Scripture and Jesus was incorrect about what it said, but instead practiced a higher righteousness than the written Word.
Quote:
If you put yourself above others, you will be put down. But if you humble yourself, you will be honored. You Pharisees and teachers of the Law of Moses are in for trouble! You’re nothing but show-offs. You lock people out of the kingdom of heaven. You won’t go in yourselves, and you keep others from going in.
Matt 23: 12-14

Those words from Jesus in Matthew appear to fit your mindset, showball. If you were really born again you would be washing the feet of homosexuals.

There were several words used that some translators in the modern era thing means homosexuality.

Quote:
If you see the word homosexual or homosexuality in the Bible, it is because translators chose those words to reflect their own homophobic feelings and ideas.

Where in the Bible you might find the word homosexual used incorrectly:

The Hebrew word kedah means temple prostitute and is sometimes inaccurately translated at sodomite or homosexual.

In 1 Corinthians, sodomite or homosexual are sometimes used, but they are incorrect translations of the Greek malakos which means something closer to effeminate or the Greek practice of pederasty, which is older men having sex with boys and is not consensual gay sex between peers.

1 Corinthians also refers in Greek to arsenokaitai, which appears nowhere else in the Bible or in Greek writings about homoerotic sexuality, but probably means male prostitute.

Jude 7 sometimes refers to homosexual flesh that the Sodomites pursued. This is an inaccurate translation of hetera sarx which means, literally, strange flesh to describe the flesh of the angels who were sent by God to evaluate Sodom and Gomorrah.

In Timothy 1:9-10, translators sometimes use homosexual for the original Greek words, pornoi, arsenokoitai, and andrapodistai, meaning male prostitutes, males who hire male prostitutes or the slave dealers who procure them.

Including the word homosexual in the Bible is the choice of translators and is not a reflection of the Bible.
The Bible actually contains no word for homosexuality or homosexual - Our Spirit | LGBT | The true basis of life and religion is love

Understanding Scripture based on the context of the existing culture is important in order not to MISinterpret. Instead, people use the context of our culture to look back at what was being written 1900+ years ago.

It's not that Scripture cannot be interpreted in the manner fundamentalists wish to interpret it. It means there are TWO possible translations and God is giving us an opportunity to show that we love and accept everyone---or we do not--both in His name.

For me and my house, I choose love and acceptance.

It is the practice of sin - 1st Corinthians 6:9-11 A
Every single person must refrain from sexual immorality ( fornication KJV in verse 9 )
Since scriptural marriage is only between a man and a woman - Matthew 19:5-6 - then whoever is single must have No part with what is sexually immoral regardless of one's leanings.

Since we are living in the critical times of 2nd Timothy 3:1-5, then we need to trust that Jesus will set things right during his soon coming 1,000 year governmental rulership over earth. In the meantime, all who have desires out side of Christian marriage must keep them in check.

It's 2015, not 115.

Wake up.

Amen, Trout. The ridiculous and absurd excuses and rationalizations necessary to pretend that the Bible presents a clear and consistent guide to morality boggle the mind.

First of all, we are living in the critical last days of badness on earth as mentioned at 2nd Timothy 3:1-5
Researchers have found animals and male fish with female brains.
One conclusion was that added estrogen to the water was a factor.
So, regardless if now an born-in trait or not, everyone Not in a Scriptural marriage - Matthew 19:5-6 - must refrain from fornication. In other words, sexual activity is for married people only. ALL the rest are to refrain.
We are nearing the threshold of the soon coming ' time of separation ' on earth - Matthew 25:31-33 - when Jesus, as Prince of Peace, will be ushering in global Peace on Earth among people of goodwill. That means soon mankind's problems will be straightened out, and our leanings will be as God originally purposed for mankind.

Wake up.
Even about the year 115 gospel writer Luke wrote forewarning us about false religious teachers - Acts 20:29-30
So, since the death of the apostles weed/tares grow along with the wheat, meaning genuine believers grow along with the fake ones.

What are we to ' wake up ' from ? According to Scripture we are to be spiritually ' awake ' - Mark 13:32-37

If a man loves God and serves God,and under God's tutelage, he will live his life under God's instruction and correction.
If one is refusing God's correction in his life, there is little God will do with him. He cannot be trusted.
Jesus said "unless your righteousness exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees you will in no case enter the kingdom of heaven."
Their failure is disobedience to God on a personal level. attributing all their works to scriptures alone.
The rich young ruler had obeyed all the law, and yet walked away sorrowfully, because Jesus asked him to give his wealth to the poor, and fallow Jesus. His failure is disobedience to Jesus.
A man with a sin he is justifying, choosing to believe that he was born with a flaw ,say kleptomania , he gets justified by the psychiatrist born with the gene , so he feels no compunction to change except that he will be responsible when caught, but not responsible in his own mind. Making excuses for ones behavior does not fly when it comes judgment day.
God knows the heart and the intent.
When a person is serious with God, and wants to be compliant to God's will in his life , healing can occur.
Be it a compulsive gambler ,cheater, thief , murder, gay, liar, disobedient, no matter the issue , knowing there is a problem and seeking God's instruction in life for dealing with any problem, gives Him the opportunity to intervene .
I have removed demons, but not from those that did not wish them removed.
God will not over ride the desire of the person that insists on keeping their problem.
Resistance to God in small things IS resistance to God .period .
