You equate hand-made, painstakingly-crafted art honouring life and spirit with a million-dollar monument to a torture device - and call that "balance?"

I think not.

No, not equating, Totems acting more like an antidote or counter-balance if you can envision that. Sorry if I offended your senses in such a usage, but this baby was REALLY listing to port, like "jump over she's gonna capsize!!" type of list... Needed a strong counter-pull...

Can't say I quite grasp the analogy but I can certainly accept you meant no offense and I apologize for insinuating you might have.

I would be impressed if it is the largest gold altar crucifix, not just some plain steel outdoor cross to decorate the entrance to a "church".

Dear Scooby,
Sol Invictus, the sun god, will be proud. Constantine, the beast with two horns like a lamb, was to deceive "those who dwell on the earth" (Rev 13), and he was to conquer under the sign of the cross, per his vision at the battle of Milvian Bridge in 312 AD. Constantine's god was Sol Invictus, and in 313 AD he struck a gold coin giving glory to Sol Invictus. The fairy tale story given by Eusebius was simply a tale to give credibility to his Roman church. Those who make idols are called "stupid" (Jer 51:17).

Jeremiah 51:17
All mankind is stupid, devoid of knowledge; Every goldsmith is put to shame by his idols, For his molten images are deceitful, And there is no breath in them.

Just curious. Is that on public land? If so, I wonder when the ACLU be suing over it, as it's a religious display.

They're found in Stanley Park, in Vancouver, British Columbia - one of the most beautiful urban parks in the world.

So, I don't suppose the ACLU will travel across the border and try to make a fuss.

Very true, it would be out of their reach. Good for them.

I think the Great Sphinx is also a religious display, and so are the pyramids.

Of course, the religions they represent are extinct, so they are more like cultural artifacts.
