Romans 5 states that this is why Jesus came:

Romans 5:6-9
"For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— 8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God."

But there are some that say Jesus just came to show us the way, or show us how to live, or to love. If that's the case...I just have one question: Why did he only minister for about 3 years? If his intent was to just demonstrate how to live life on earth...why didn't he stick around to show more people? My thought is that he had one mission: To die on the cross. This is why he came--he didn't need to stick around afterward. He left, and the Spirit came to guide the church as it went forth to proclaim that.
The Romans citation does not give the mechanics or process of Atonement, only the fact and result. There are much less barbaric explanations of the ptoces of theAtonement, but that one gives support to the system of religion organized and manipulated by the professional clergy that gtew out of the original faith. My personal take is that Jese' sacrifice invalidated Law as basis for community and judgement.

As for 3 1/2 years, how long should it take to get across the idea that concern for the well-being of everyone in any situation should be that basis?

Unfortunately people choose to believe what is easy but Jesus said it is not easy.

He said why He came but people want to stick to what they have been taught in error because they can't see how God would allow Christianity to be wrong all these years. Well , it happened to the so called Jews and has happened to Christianity because they sprang from the beliefs of those in error so in error they continue.

Jesus said the son of man came to spread God's word, the truth, and give life to His sheep. He sent His followers as He was sent so His mission was suppose to continue in them. The son of man was to rise after three days, a period of time not exact, which is coming to fruition today. The son of man is he who spreads the word of God and the prophets, who comes eating and drinking as the servant of God and as the son of God, Israel.

It is written;

"Blessed is he who's way is blameless who walks in the law of the Lord.

Never realized that some thought it was just 3 years...isn't there mention of how He was in the temples / synagogues as early as 6 or 7 years of age?

The Temple priests were decided by Rome, so these men would be friendly to the government before a nation who believed they were God's chosen. Seems to be quite a slap on the face when the poor continued to be squeezed. Jesus and his family experienced this first hand.

He introduced something quite radical. Take care of the poor. They are your brothers and sisters. The Temple was the target of his anger. The price for sacrifice was an expensive endeavor for the poor. He began to speak about change.
His radical idea was a threat to those in power.

At the same time, this young man was a bit arrogant. His friends were quarreling. They were losing steam. They wanted their own power. Jesus saw this far too late. He already participated in the donkey run.

No man in his right mind wants to be crucified. Jesus was no different. Once he was arrested, he knew his fate.

His best friends abandoned him, and denied him. He trusted them. He lived with them for three years, and never knew them.
Some crew. Many put these guys on a pedestal. Every word is golden. I would not consider them good role models. I do not consider them inspired by God, either.

Paul was an opportunist. The other followers had difficult lives. Life time penitence for abandoning their friend. Jesus was not Christian, and neither were the Apostles. Paul, was not Christian either. Rome wiped the homeland off the map giving way to a diaspora. But, what is a powerful Rome to do? Co-opt, and blend.

It was the women who watched and tended to Jesus. I want to hear their stories. These women are my sisters, and I have a deep appreciation and respect for them.

Dear viz,
His ministry didn't last 3 years, it lasted 42 months per Daniel 9:25," until the Messiah the Prince there will be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks". That is a total of 69 weeks, which is 1 week/7 days short of the "seventy weeks" of Daniel 9:24. "Then after the sixty two weeks the Messiah will be cut off", which happened 42 months after the "Messiah" arrived. That leaves half a week left, or in other words, the beast will now rule for time, times, and half a time, until the end. (Daniel 12:7) The beast's "extension of life"..."an appointed period of time", (Daniel 7:12) is coming to an end.

During this 42 months/42 generations/appointed times, the "dragon" has made war with "the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Yeshua" (Rev 12:17). We have been in the "tribulation" since the "Shepherd" was struck down.(Mt 26:31 & Mt 24:9-10). The "great tribulation" (Mt 24:21) is not limited in time, except for it will be "cut short" (Mt 24:22) and it will include the locust for 5 months. (Rev 9:5).

Dear Zthat,
Priesthood starts at one's 30th birthday according to the OT. That is why, John the Baptist, his cousin, who was born 6 months earlier than Yeshua, started his priesthood before Yeshua.

In Revelations 12:6-11.....Says ``And the woman (Holy Spirit ) fled into the wilderness , where she has a place prepared of God , that they should feed her there for a thousand two hundred and (three score days (thirty days) ..which adds to 3.4 years ..................Then after that the devil is kicked out of heaven and salvation of the power of Christ come by the blood of the lamb ..................See the ministry of Jesus in the earth lasted 3.4 years then Jesus by the blood of the lamb and by the word of the testimony and they love not their live unto death , became the salvation for all who seek God .............................As Jesus death on the cross or the blood of the lamb is Gods lone judgment for man , as from Isaiah 53:10..God said in His plan `Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him , he has put him to grief , when he will make his soul a offering for sin , he will see his seed , he will prolong his days , and the pleasure of the Lord will prosper in His hand ``.............See Jesus death of the cross will be the offering His soul for sin , the Judgment for sinners ......he will prolong his days - the resurrection of Jesus and then the sinners can be redeemed of sin and become one with Jesus and have their days prolong in heaven

He may have been there, but not for doing ministry.

So it is an assumption that Christ did nothing until his 30th birthday?

Does Luke 2:49 not tell us how Jesus was about his Father's business when He was YOUNG?

41 Every year Jesus’ parents went to Jerusalem for the Festival of the Passover.
42 When he was twelve years old, they went up to the festival, according to the custom.
43 After the festival was over, while his parents were returning home, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem, but they were unaware of it.
44 Thinking he was in their company, they traveled on for a day. Then they began looking for him among their relatives and friends.
45 When they did not find him, they went back to Jerusalem to look for him.
46 After three days they found him in the temple courts, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions.
47 Everyone who heard him was amazed at his understanding and his answers.

48 When his parents saw him, they were astonished. His mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us like this? Your father and I have been anxiously searching for you.”

49 “Why were you searching for me?” he asked. “Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house?”

50 But they did not understand what he was saying to them.

51 Then he went down to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them. But his mother treasured all these things in her heart.
52 And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.

Sounds like ministry to me?

Jesus Christ worked as a carpenter until His 30th birthday - first for His father, then, as the head of the household. The money, that He earned, paid for the family's expenses - food, supplies, etc.
He, and the family, weren't poor, so they were probably what we would call Middle Class.
Theoretically, one of His brothers took over the family business.
