Interesting take on Luther's state of mind.

A Baptist minister named Michael King was so impressed by Martin Luther after a trip to Germany in 1934 that he changed his name and changed his son's name to match!

Well, yes. As if Rehoboam would have reformed on his own any more than the Catholic church would have especially after the Benedictine reforms finally resulted in business as usual and the Albigensian Crusade. The other interesting thing is that the Samaritan religion seems to have been a model for the Rabbinical Judaism that obtains today. Not a real good illustration of the point the author was trying to make.
Partisan revisionist history is interesting though.

The only disagreement I have is the characterization of the "Benedictine reforms" as an attempt to change things, when I saw it as more of a movement to prevent changes for the worse.

I had never considered the Samaritan religion, and its similarity to Rabbinical Judaism of today. I really don't know much about the Samaritan religion, and all I know about today's Judaism is that it is completely gone off the rails.

No, the lady my Mom was named after, Natalie David, was. My comment was in response to the comment that Judaism had gone off the rails. I was just giving my observation.

Looking forward always to hearing about you're personal story.
Perhaps one day this forum will clear a way through for those that have sought an honorable bond of peace. One where each person could one day remove their sandals and walk with the assurance that the terrain is holy.

Blessings always
