What do you think of this movie depicting "end times"? (Correct year: 1978 film)
Do you really think that Revelation was about the future rather than the first century Rome? Can't you see how a man in prison (exile) would have been writing about his own times rather than a magical future vision? Personally, I think his own vision of the future was similar to that of the Old Testament prophets. Their vision reflected the way that society has been progressing towards peace and tolerance of each other.
There are various views of Revelation. Some people hold to a preteristic view in which they see Revelation as having been fulfilled in the first century AD. Others hold to an historical or continuous historical view of Revelation which states that Revelation is being continually fulfilled throughout the history of the church. There are those who take an idealist/allegorical view of Revelation in which Revelation does not record actual events which have been and which are to be fulfilled. Then there is the futuristic or normal interpretation of Revelation. This is the view to which I personally hold. Taken literally, there are things recorded in Revelation, such as the return of Jesus to the earth in chapter 19, the resurrections mentioned in chapter 20 which obviously have not happened yet. And no judgments in history have ever occurred which equal those which are mentioned in the text of Revelation with regard to the Tribulation.
It's true that Revelation contains a vast amount of symbolic language. However, underlying the symbolism are very real events. God, who is omniscient was certainly able to show John events pertaining to the future for the benefit of the church.
Oh. I never saw the movie and so I can't comment on it.
I like Stephen King's book and miniseries (which was fairly close to the book) The Stand best as a fictional interpretation of Revelation. Very clever the way he made Trashcan Man and his atomic bomb on wheels the "Pale Horse, Pale Rider".

The man of sin, aka antichrist, is soon to be revealed to this generation; he's a political figure who will take the stage peacefully through deceit. After he's been in power for 3 1/2 years, the mask will come off and he will demand allegiance from the world by demanding that people take the mark of the beast (666) or no commerce, i.e., no buying, selling, banking, employment, etc... After a while, he will demand that people take the mark or die. The technology is in place right now and the world is ready to accept the man of sin because iniquity abounds nowadays.

There isn't much truth of revelation found in Hollywood movies.
Cannot buy or sell unless one receives the mark of the beast= sanctions.
We are living revelation. its nearing this systems conclusion.
Literal interpretation like this movie which show that the vin chip is the mark of the beast is false interpretation , as the mark of the beast is a spiritual mark like a curse from the beast or devil who is unseen in the spirit
This is a lot more than just an interpretation in a movie. It was designed as a tool to convert young people to orthodox Christianity. It was shown to them in large assemblies. And it has been very effective. Many of them still believe this as mature adults.

If that was really the way its going to happen, dont you think it will be very easy to identify the AC?
