Mat 1:17 So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.
What is the Total Generations? - 42
This verse is prophetic as not only does the 42 generations indeed go back to Abraham's birth timeframe but 42 Generations in the future will go to the time when Christ returns.

First it is until his birth which the context immediately following reveals. Second at 42 generations each being 40 years the return should have already happened. 42 x 40 = 1680 years from his birth. Whoops! But hey keep wishing and when and if you are around until 2040, as you expect, I expect a de-conversion when he does not show up
42 x 50 =2100 years from his birth. But when that fails make each generation 60 and...so on.

Now let's count!
Abraham was the father of Isaac, Isaac the father of Jacob, Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers, Judah the father of Perez and Zerah (by Tamar), Perez the father of Hezron, Hezron the father of Ram, Ram the father of Amminadab, Amminadab the father of Nahshon, Nahshon the father of Salmon, Salmon the father of Boaz (by Rahab), Boaz the father of Obed (by Ruth), Obed the father of Jesse, and Jesse the father of David the king.
14 - From Abraham to David
David was the father of Solomon (by the wife of Uriah), Solomon the father of Rehoboam, Rehoboam the father of Abijah, Abijah the father of Asa, Asa the father of Jehoshaphat, Jehoshaphat the father of Joram, Joram the father of Uzziah, Uzziah the father of Jotham, Jotham the father of Ahaz, Ahaz the father of Hezekiah, Hezekiah the father of Manasseh, Manasseh the father of Amon, Amon the father of Josiah, and Josiah the father of Jeconiah and his brothers, at the time of the deportation to Babylon.
14 - From David to Babylon is actually 15 but you can't count David twice.
After the deportation to Babylon, Jeconiah became the father of Shealtiel, Shealtiel the father of Zerubbabel, Zerubbabel the father of Abiud, Abiud the father of Eliakim, Eliakim the father of Azor, Azor the father of Zadok, Zadok the father of Achim, Achim the father of Eliud, Eliud the father of Eleazar, Eleazar the father of Matthan, Matthan the father of Jacob, and Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, by whom Jesus was born, who is called Christ.
13 - from after Babylon to Jesus but from Babylon to Jesus is 14 but, as above, you can't count Babylon twice.
So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations, and from David to the deportation to Babylon, fourteen generations, and from the deportation to Babylon to Christ, fourteen generations.
So actually there are only 41 generations (14=14=13=41).
Now Go read Chronicles and tell me how many generations there where until Babylon?

2Ki 23:34 And Pharaoh-Nechoh causeth Eliakim son of Josiah to reign instead of Josiah his father, and turneth his name to Jehoiakim, and Jehoahaz he hath taken away, and he cometh in to Egypt, and dieth there.
2Ki 24:6 And Jehoiakim lieth with his fathers, and Jehoiachin his son reigneth in his stead.
So you can see Jehoiachin was actually Jeconiah and the Grandson of Josiah.

There is no genealogy after Christ but a Spiritual one. We know that the "generation" is a type of a Jubilee. The 42nd Jubilee after Jesus Birth is the one on which He returns.
2040AD would be the 42nd Jubilee year since the Birth of Jesus.

Either way you using Matthew got it wrong. Matthew has 41 not 42.
It is 42. That is corrected in other manuscripts. Read the commentaries on the verse and you will see that other MSS have it.
If it is truly 2040, how is it possible for us to recognize this?
Why did Jesus even bother saying that this day was something ONLY the father knew?
Point is, it seems a little too easy to figure out...?

'Corrected'?
Before the mention of Jeconiah, several medieval mssadd Jehoiakim, in conformity with the genealogy in 1 Chr 3:15-16. But this alters the count of fourteen generations (v. 17).
This makes your point even more ridiculous - additions after Jeconiah and the fact that you now have contradictory mss that you then choose what is the best mss. Ridiculous indeed! What do the earliest mss read? You see later scribes understood the problem and did not correct anything based upon actual knowledge of the original facts but on their desire to rid the mss of problems. Get the story straight.

How do you 'know' that a 'generation = a Jubliee? And how do you 'know' that the return is supposed to be 42 of them? It is all so arbitrary and ambiguous it makes it all meaningless and useless really despite the other issues I have been pointing out.
