If I remember correctly Mormon's have used the verse below to validate their faith.
just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep. I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd. The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life—only to take it up again. (John 10:15-17, NIV).
I had a friend a long time ago talk to me about her beliefs and Mormonism. She referenced this verse, as did yet another Mormon friend many years later. I read it today and realized that the sheep from the other pen that Jesus is referencing is the Gentiles. The sheep he was talking to were the Jews. And the other sheep were the Gentiles...culturally gentiles were considered worse than dogs. Just an interesting thought I wanted to pass along.
Amen! I better not get started about the Mormans and risk getting kicked off this forum. I'm sure you true Christians know better than to believe utter nonsense.
We Catholics are also the brunt of many onslaughts. So I can empathize with the Mormons in that respect.
I have never read the book of Mormon, and therefore can't really can't develope an intelligent opinion of it's content. Maybe one day I'll read it.
However, did I read, on this thread, "The Book of Mormon" is believed to be inspired scripture?
There are many different opinions concerning "The Catechism of the Catholic Church", but no one claims it is inspired scripture.

Yes, they believe it to be inspired scripture. They also believe in the Bible and Pearl of Great Price and Doctrine and Covenants. (Am I right on all of those??? I get them mixed up sometimes.)

All remnants of the lost tribe were destroyed. I forget who destroyed who, i think the Nephites killed all the Lamanites, any way. The ones that survived were given a mark like Cain, so the DNA was changed.
What verse supports the mark of Cain being put upon the Lamanites as a curse for the destruction of the Nephites?
Please Doji!! Don't listen to this nonsense. These posts are stream of conciousness musings of people who know just enough to be very dangerous, and can be aptly described as horse manure!
oh I must have misunderstood. I assumed by reading other threads that you were a mormon, and I thought the "cain and dna" was something taught by the lds church. I just wanted to know what it was...not to fight over if it was "right or wrong" to believe it..
sorry
